Raticate, a Sad Tale

I've mentioned the raticate story briefly in one of my earlier posts, and with two blank stares, I shall explain the tale. Pokemon don't really die. As sort of a buffer from kids and the harsh reality, Pokemon just seem to faint. Well, kinda. There's usually a tower in the region where old and passed on Pokemon are laid to rest. Some sick, some just out of time, but one maybe not so...

In the original three, (red, blue, and yellow,) one of your rival's first caught Pokemon is a rattata. He's faithfully raised along side Gary and evolved into a raticate. All is normal up until Pokemon tower in Lavender town. You run into your rival, laying something on a Pokemon's grave. As he turns to leave, he sees you and immediately turns hostile and challenges you. The big kicker is, raticate is no longer in his party...

While not directly mentioned, it is insinuated that you actually killed Gary's raticate. Battled him to death.
